VIDEO: Car, motorcycle crash at Golf Road and Algonquin Road Sunday night.
Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:20 p.m. Sunday to a car vs. motorcycle crash at Golf Road and Algonquin Road. Police on the scene immediately called for assistance from Rolling Meadows police to assist with lane blockage. A second ambulance was also requested for a passenger in the car that was injured in the crash.
A witness at the scene reported that the injured motorcyclist and other motorists were westbound on Golf Road with a green light, when a car came from the left ‘out of nowhere’ (on westbound Algonquin Road) and disobeyed the red light that would signal a yield for the westbound Golf Road traffic. The sedan was apparently traveling at a high rate of speed from the left of the motorcycle when the car collided with the motorcycle and motorcycle hit the passenger side of the 4-door sedan. The car spun around from the impact, and main impact damage was on the passenger, rear door.
The intersection is an angled intersection of two east-west state highways.
The motorcyclist was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. The victim traveling in the sedan was transported to Northwest Community Hospital.
Lanes were blocked near the intersection during a prolonged accident investigation overnight.
