Arlington Heights resident and Prospect High School graduate Jason Leblebijian was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 25th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft Wednesday.
Currently Leblebijian is a three-year starter, playing shortstop for the Bradley University Braves, and will decide whether to stay at Bradley for his senior year or play Major League Baseball. His career batting average in early June 2012 is .287. Lebebijian achieved one of the best BU batting averages as a freshman with .323 in 2010. Jason Leblebijian led the 2012 Braves with 16 doubles and 24 extra-base hits, and finished third with 37 RBI’s.
Leblebijian played on the 2008 American Legion Post 208 baseball team that won the First Division Championship. The team went on to lose to Belleville in the American Legion Illinois State Championship.
