Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District firefighter/paramedics and Bannockburn police responded about 7:35 a.m. Tuesday to train vs. SUV crash near Waukegan Road and Half Day Road. Firefighter/paramedics on the scene reported on minor injury to a victim in the truck — apparently the driver. No injuries were reported on the train.
The SUV — originally reported as a truck — struck an outbound Metra passenger train on the Milwaukee District/North Line — Train #2101. The rear-end of the SUV was damaged.
Train #2101, scheduled to arrive Lake Forest at 7:33 a.m., is presently stopped at Halfday Road near Lake Forest due to a grade crossing incident. The local police municipality has stopped all train operating through this area. The estimated time of delay could be 30 to 60 minutes for train operating through this area.
