Arlington Heights police responded about 3:45 p.m. Monday to investigate a suspicious subject in the 100 block of North Gibbons Avenue. Police received a report that a man came to the front door and asked a woman about her son.
The man was described as a male/white with a shaved head, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and rubber gloves. The subject walked away from the house and headed toward Kensington Road. The man returned and walked past the house. He then walked up to neighbors’ houses.
Police received a report that he appeared agitated and made at least one strange comment about a criminal act. It was also reported that he had a large knife like a butcher knife.
Police arrived on the scene and made contact with the subject by 3:50 p.m. Police searched the subject, and found him possessing a pipe or metal cylinder, but no knife. Police also checked to see if he may have hidden the knife somewhere in the neighborhood.
Police requested paramedics to the scene for medical evaluation.
