Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:25 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a building fire on the roof of a woodworking business in the 700 block of Lunt Avenue. Firefighters reported a light haze upon arrival, and received reports that something was on fire on the roof.
Firefighters accessed the roof and reported an apparent dust collection unit was on fire on the roof with no apparent extension into the building. Firefighters extinguished the fire on the roof with two hand pumps, extinguished embers from ducting inside the business, and checked the building for extension of fire with a thermal imaging camera. No extension of fire was observed, but some extra work was required to clear some burning debris in ducting that goes directly to the roof. Firefighters used a handline to soak the inside of the duct and wash down some debris.
Fire was reported struck out at about 10:36 a.m. Wednesday.
