Two Crash Victims Walk Over 3 Miles from South Kreuger Rd & Beaver Run, Long Grove to Get Help

Lake Zurich and Long Grove firefighter/paramedics responded about 4:00 a.m. Saturday to a one-vehicle crash Saturday at South Kreuger Road and Beaver Run. About 4:10 a.m. Lake Zurich Fire Rescue paramedics reported arriving to find a one-vehicle crash with a car upside down into a broken utility pole.

Lake Zurich firefighter/paramedics and Long Grove firefighter/paramedics worked at the scene for an extrication and possible ejection crash.

Palatine Rural firefighter/paramedics responded to Lake Zurich to standby for ambulance coverage for Lake Zurich, but were moved up to the scene when a second or third victim was found. The second or third victim was found at the scene about 4:30 a.m. There was an early report of an ejection in the crash, and there was also an early report that there were five victims in the crash.


About 5:21 a.m. Buffalo Grove firefighter/paramedics responded to “an accident with injuries” involving a green car at the Shell gas station at 1200 North Arlington Heights Road. Buffalo Grove police also responded and arrived first. They immediately learned that two people at the Shell station had walked from the crash at South Kreuger Road and Beaver Run — a 3.3-mile walk. The green car was apparently not involved in the crash.

Buffalo Grove firefighter/paramedics arrived and immediately called for a second rescue ambulance. Meanwhile police and paramedics worked to make sure the victims had actually walked from the serious crash at Kreuger Road and Beaver Run — in case there was some other crash nearby. The victims said they walked for about an hour and that there were more victims back at the crash. The walk from South Kreuger Road to Cuba Road to Old McHenry Road to the Shell station at Arlington Heights Road and Old McHenry would be expected to take about one hour.

No word on the condition of any of the victims. Also no word on any arrests or charges for the driver. Developing …
