Traffic stop of threat suspect at Lincoln Lane and Park Street about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Arlington Heights police responded to a report about 7:11 p.m. Tuesday of a threat related to a security staff member at Northwest Community Hospital. Police received a report from the hospital that a man was en route to the hospital to seek out revenge a security staff member or hospital staff. Police also received a report that the man was armed with a gun and wearing a bullet proof vest. Police responded to an address on Hamlin Lane to look for the suspect, and to the hospital to protect staff and citizens at the hospital.
The suspect, believed to be headed toward the hospital, was described as a male/white, 35-years-old, 5’11” medium build, short brown hair, and wearing a gray sweatshirt and jeans. He was reported to be driving a silver Ford Focus 4-door.
An alert detective in an unmarked car, saw the suspect’s vehicle pass him near the Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters. The detective followed the suspect through the Scarsdale neighborhood until enough marked cars were in the area. The vehicle was stopped at Lincoln Avenue and Park Street.
No word if a weapon was found, but the suspect was in the vehicle. The suspect was transported in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters. The suspect’s Ford Focus was possibly towed to a police holding area for investigation.
No injuries were reported. Park Street and Lincoln Lane were blocked for about 30 minutes Tuesday night.
