Arlington Heights police received a report about 8:16 p.m. Monday of a residential burglary in the 1200 block of North Illinois Avenue. Police received a report that a resident was away from the house since about 6:15 p.m. and returned to find the front door open.
Arlington Heights police are investigating. An unknown offender or offenders forced open the front door, entered the residence, ransacked numerous drawers and removed an armoire containing jewelry. An unknown number of necklaces, earrings and pearls missing are valued at approximately $10,000.
A board-up company was possibly called to the address.
The crime is reported to have occurred Monday, March 5, 2012 between 6:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
