Arlington Heights police responded about 8:51 p.m. Wednesday of a burglary in the 1100 block of North Chestnut Avenue. Police received a report that residents were away from the house for about 90 minutes and returned to find a side door with signs of tampering. The residents waited outside while police checked the house to make sure it was clear of offenders.
Arlington Heights sent an evidence technician to the house. The case was classified as a burglary attempt. The door jamb, casing and lock were all damaged.
