Gunfire at a Chardon High School outside Cleveland killed one student, and injured four students Monday morning, and at least one suspect has been taken into custody, officials said.
Police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:30 a.m. Monday to Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio and aobut 30 miles east of Cleveland, Ohio, to multiple 9-1-1 reports of gunfire at the school.
Police released information that four male students and one female student were gunshot victims. A 17-year-old male was listed in seriuos condition and an 18-year-old female was in stable condition at Cleveland Clinic’s Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights — about 17 miles away.
A medical helicopter responded directly to Chardon High School.
The suspect is reported to be a student of the high school that surrendered to a teacher that chased him after the shooting.
