Maria Carlsen’s body was discovered about 11:30 a.m. Thursday in a drainage tunnel at near U.S. Route 12 and Ivanhoe Road, Wauconda. She was found next to bottles of prescription drugs and a bottle of water, and apparently committed suicide. The location where body was found is about one mile from JD’s Restaurant Route 12 and Old Rand Road where her 2010 BMW was found.
Police report there were no signs of struggle at her home, where her luggage was located, or at the scene where her body was found. She had scheduled a limo to pick her up at house to take her to O’Hare International Airport for a flight to meet her husband in Boca Raton.
