Pennsylvania’s famous groundhog Punxsutawney Phil has emerged from his lair and saw his shadow, in the process predicting six more weeks of winter.

Hear Ye Hear Ye Year Ye
On Gobbler’s Knob on this magnificent Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2012.
Punxsutawney Phil, the Seer of Seers, the Prognosticator of all Prognosticators, was summoned from his borrow in the old oak stump by the tap of President Bill Deeley.
He greeted his handlers, John Griffiths and Ron Ploucha.
And after casting an appreciative glance to the thousands of faithful followers in attendance,
Phil proclaimed,
As I look at the crowd on Gobbler’s Knob
Many shadows do I see
Six more weeks of winter it must be![Boo (crowd)]
While Punxsutawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter, Woodstock Willie predicted an early Spring as dense fog in Woodstock prevented Woodstock Willie from seeing his shadow on the 20-year anniversary of the filming of Groundhog Day with Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell, and the one-year anniversary of the Groundhog Day Blizzard of 2011.
Quite a difference from last year, when Chicagoland was hit with a blizzard February 1-2, 2011. Even ambulances, fire engines and rescue squads were stuck in the snow.
