Des Plaines firefighter/paramedics and Illinois State responded about 6:25 p.m. Thursday to a crash involving a hotel shuttle bus that crashed on the westbound Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) near the Lee Street bridge/Higgins Road bridge, just south of the Touhy Avenue Lee Street intersection. At least ten rescue ambulances were called to the scene, but some were returned before they arrived. Des Plaines called for a MABAS EMS Box to the 3rd Level about 7:00 p.m. Thursday.
Eight people were reported injured, but no serious injuries were reported. Victims were transported to several hospitals, including Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. Firefighter/paramedics from Arlington Heights, Des Plaines, Mount Prospect, and Schiller Park transported to Northwest Community Hospital.
Westbound I-90 traffic was blocked an exiting northbound on Lee Street/Higgins Road.
A second personal injury occurred in the eastbound lanes of I-90 just east of the Lee Street/Higgins Road bridge. Firefighter/paramedics responded to the eastbound crash. Chicago Fire Department paramedics and an Chicago Fire Department EMS command officer also responded to the eastbound crash.
