Matt Kenseth won the Daytona 500 with the checkered flag on the 200th lap at about 12:56 a.m. February 28, 2012. He rolled in with his blue-and-yellow Best Buy Ford Fusion with a fog rolling in the early, early hours, and a 67°F temperature in Daytona Beach, Florida. This is the first race that was ever postponed because of rain.
Kenseth’s second victory in the Daytona 500. He also won in 2009, in a rain-shortened race.
After a rain delay, the race postponed and a fiery crash between Montoya’s Chevy and a jet dryer truck, the Dayton 500 was completed with the full 200 laps.
