Elk Grove Village responded about 6:10 a.m. Saturday to an armed robber/man with a gun at a pallet servicing warehouse at in the 1800 block of Greenleaf Avenue. A minute later police received a report that the offender fled the scene in a blue passenger car possibly a Chevy. Police also received a report that the offender was being chased on Pratt on toward Elmhurst Road.
One of the victims or witnesses chased the the offender’s blue car in a gray Chevy Suburban — heading eastbound on Touhy Avenue. Police from Bensenville, Des Plaines, and Rosemont were notified about the chase. Police were waiting at Mount Prospect and Touhy Avenue. The driver of the Chevy Suburban reported the offender was shooting at him eastbound Touhy at Wolf Road. Police received a report that the chase headed southbound on Lee from Touhy. The offender then got out of the vehicle and began shooting at the driver of the Suburban. The offender was described as a male/black wearing a black jacket and a black knit cap with ear flaps. The suspect was down on the ground and in custody with Elk Grove and Des Plaines police about 6:20 a.m. Saturday near Lee Street and the entrance to eastbound Interstate 90.
Police were investigating the scene on Greenleaf Avenue and interviewing the suspect, victims and witnesses. The suspect was transported in custody to Elk Grove Village Police Department Headquarters.
