Mount Prospect police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:54 a.m. Monday to the Mount Shire Apartments, 1880 West Palm Drive to a report of a fire alarm with the smell of smoke. Police arrived first and reported possible flames inside the kitchen. Mount Prospect firefighters reported they had a working fire and had the fire extinguished by 9:12 a.m. Monday. Firefighters were working on overhaul and ventilation on the third floor, and mutual aid firefighters were immediately released.
Firefighters from Arlington Heights, Des Plaines and Elk Grove Township assisted Mount Prospect firefighters.
No injuries were reported.
