  1. KM — has commented on this article, but the way it is written, it is filled with accusations that aren’t verified by any facts. To avoid a slander lawsuit, The Cardinal will publish the non-slanderous part.

“Is stolen Viagra suppose to be funny? Aren’t you reporting a robbery? What is the point? … Kinda stupid that folks see what they want to see.”

And here is The Cardinal’s reply: All crimes that are selected for publishing are based on whether they are significant, involve a risk, safety issue or hazard, a crime pattern, or some other strange twist. Breaking into someone’s apartment when they’re not home is not a robbery … it’s a burglary. A robbery is taking something from someone by force, by threat of force or by another reason to cause fear if the property is not relinquished. The fact that someone got into an apartment and stole Viagra instead of jewelry, a television, a laptop or other more valuable items is a strange twist. There is nothing in the article that promotes humor — like an extraneous comment, for example. The incident is strange, but it’s not funny. It’s not like this is the only report The Cardinal selected about Treehouse. There are other crimes and accidents that have been published in The Cardinal about Treehouse of Schaumburg, but with all the incidents that occur across the northwest suburbs, it’s impossible to cover all incidents — at Treehouse or anywhere else.
