Joel Despain, Madison Police Department interview: Police in Wisconsin say two men in their late 20s stole DVDs and computer games from a Target store and discussed their plans to fence the goods while driving away. The duo didn’t realize one of them had accidentally pocket-dialed 911.
Two suspects discussed where they were headed to fence proceeds from a retail theft at Target store, when one of their phones pocket-dialed 9-1-1. An alert dispatcher gathered information for 54 minutes while the two inadvertently disclosed important information.
Jason S. Hamielec, 29, and Brian A. Johnson, 28, were arrested after they talked about their plans to fence DVDs and computer games they had just stolen from a Target store at 201 Junction Road, Madison about 5:30 p.m.
They discussed heading for the Video X-Change, 3002 Atwood Avenue and even alerted each other that they need to replace their license plates because police would be looking for their offending vehicle description — a blue Dodge Durango without license plates.
Madison police were waiting at the Video X-Change, and arrested the suspects in the parking lot.
