Local residents were riveted when an orca took on sharks in shallow water off the southern coast of New Zealand Tuesday.
Sharks were attacked by Orca Killer Whaless on Boxing Day as they were corralled into shallow water at the Blue Cliffs Beach in Tuatapere, New Zealand.
The sharks tried to escape the killer whales by beaching themselves in shallow water where the Orca whales cannot travel. Then a dog tried to get involved in the act by playing with the beached shark.
Boxing Day is traditionally a day following Christmas when wealthy people in the United Kingdom give a box containing a gift to their servants. Today, Boxing Day is better known as a bank or public holiday that occurs on December 26, or the first or second weekday after Christmas Day. Boxing Day is observed in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and some other Commonwealth nations — the exact date depends on national or regional laws.
