Chicago police and fire department paramedics responded about 3:45 a.m. Sunday to a hit-and-run vehicle vs. pedestrian incident causing serious personal injuries on North Michigan Avenue and East Pearson Street. The offending vehicle is described as a silver or gray sedan that was traveling northbound on Michigan Avenue, and fled eastbound on East Chestnut Street after a right turn from Michigan Avenue.
Meghann Eff,28, suffered a basilar skull fracture, cervical spine fracture(s), two broken legs, and a crushed arm with a shattered elbow and shoulder. The injuries may cause permanent hearing loss.
A Good Samaritan exited her cab as a passenger, called 9-1-1 and stood by until rescuers arrived as Eff was lying in the street. Meghann Eff was transported by Chicago Fire Department paramedics to Level I Trauma Center Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
The Chicago Police Department Major Accident Investigation Unit (MAIU) is working on the case. Citizens are urged to report any information to the Major Accident Investigation Unit by calling telephone number 312-745-4521.
