The Cook County Board approved its 2012 budget with the consolidation of weekend hearings from the Bridgeview, Markham, Maywood, Rolling Meadows, Skokie courthouses at the Cook County criminal courts building at 26th Street and California Avenue in Chicago — about 31 miles away from Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters.
Police departments will be forced to hold prisoners until Monday for bond court or spend the 100 minute plus round trip to 26th and California to go to bond court over the weekend.
Cook County is estimating that the county will save $1.9 million next year by consolidating the courthouses.
