Rare video of a train crash that occurred in Palatine, Illinois about 7:00 p.m. November 9, 1950.
No lives were lost. A broken axle on the 19th car of a Chicago & Northwestern freight train caused the train to sag and likely caused the derailment. The train derailed in the middle of town, which also caused a water main break that left the town without water for days.
