Schaumburg police responded about 3:40 pm. Sunday to manage traffic signals and intersection control in the area around Woodfield Mall. Com Ed needed to shut down electricity in the area for repairs — possibly part of a power failure that occurred in Palatine. Schaumburg police got into position at all intersections affected by the power failure before power was shut down by Com Ed.
Woodfield Mall’s electricity was not interrupted.
The Com Ed outage map reported only 51-500 customers were affected out of the Mount Prospect regional office.
