Hoffman Estates police alerted area police departments about 1:34 p.m. Tuesday of a possible ruse/scam in Hoffman Estates at a residence near Higgins Road and Jones hat occurred about 1:00 p.m. Tuesday. One of two offenders told an elderly person that her roof was leaking and that the offenders needed to gain entry into the home. The offenders left the area approximately 1:04 p.m. Tuesday.
The offenders were traveling in a full-sized newer model white pickup truck
