Part of Arlington Heights police perimeter at Belmont Avenue and Eastman Street for vehicle burglary.
Arlington Heights police responded about 10:08 p.m. Sunday to a report of a vehicle burglary in progress in the 200 block of North Haddow Avenue. Police received a report that three teenagers “broke into” a victim’s car, and that the teens were last seen heading westbound on Eastman. Police were updated while en route that the offenders were attempting to enter another car near Eastman and Pine. Police arrived within two minutes and had two suspects in custody at Eastman and Pine Avenue. A third suspect ran southbound through the yards along Pine Avenue.
The third suspect was captured at his house, where he allegedly ran while attempting to flee and elude police. The house was a few blocks south of the crime scene.
All three suspects were transported in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters Sunday night. A police K-9 unit was used to track the suspects, and was on the scene at the initial contact with the first two offenders. Both suspects were ordered to get down on the ground when they were spotted by police with the K-9 unit present.
