POLICE ACTIVITY: MCDONALD’S ON HIGGINS ROAD SCHAUMBURG
Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a male stabbing victim that walked into the McDonald’s at 720 East Higgins Road. Police arrived at the McDonald’s within one minute. Police received a report that a male/black offender stabbed the victim. No clothing description for the offender was immediately available. The whereabouts of the offender was not immediately known, but it is suspected that the offender left in a vehicle. Police also are working on information that the the victim and the offender knew each other.
Police arrived and immediately sealed entrances and exits to the McDonalds, just west of Plum Grove Road. An evidence technician was immediately called to the scene. Police have also sealed off – as part of the crime scene — a strip mall nearby and the area surrounding the Bank of America. Police are also focusing on an area north of the McDonald’s while investigating where the stabbing occurred.
The victim, who was in his mid-30’s, was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital with police guard.
Police have also called for lighting from the fire department to illuminate the crime scene.
Arlington Heights police assisted Schaumburg police with a K-9 unit for tracking (updated 4:30 a.m. Wednesday).
