Hundreds of law enforcement officers swept across seven Southern California counties on Thursday targeting members and leaders of the Vagos motorcycle club, some of whom are accused of crimes including rape and solicitation of murder.
Over 500 member motorcycle club — a very strong motorcycle club that is rival to Hell’s Angels and competing for territories in criminal activities.
Some outlaw motorcycle clubs can be distinguished by a 1% patch worn on the colors — a diamond with a 1% in the middle. The insignia is claimed to be a reference to a comment made by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) in which they stated that 99% of motorcyclists were law-abiding citizens, implying that the last one percent were outlaws. AMA denies such a statement.
What started as a narcotics investigation, led to investigation of conspiracy, weapons violations, auto theft, rape, attempted murder and murder.
Not all members are involved in narcotics, but the members that area involved have extensive networks that are capable of moving cocaine and methamphetamine across the country.
The Vagos Motorcycle Club, also known as the Green Nation, is a one-percenter motorcycle gang and organized crime syndicate that was formed in the 1960s in the small unincorporated community of Temescal Valley, which is south of Corona, California.
The gang originally was called “the Psychos”. The club’s insignia is Loki, the Norse god of mischief, riding a motorcycle and members commonly wear green.
Member are known to have had event, tours or meetings in Illinois.
