Arlington Heights police received a report about 1:48 a.m. Sunday, October 16, 2011 of a suspicious incident in the 1600 block of North Haddow Avenue. Police received a report that burglary alarm had activated, but that the resident was home and canceled any call to the police by the alarm company. Later the resident noticed a back screen door was opened, and decided to call police to check the area.

No pry marks or signs of forcible entry were reported at the north Haddow Avenue address.

A second resident in the neighborhood also tipped The Cardinal to a suspicious noise about 2:30 a.m. Sunday that sounded like someone was trying to check an exterior garage door. The resident’s gas tank door on one of the vehicles in the garage was also discovered to be open in the morning.

Winds overnight ranged from “calm” to about 5 mph between 1:51 a.m. and 5:51 a.m. Sunday.

Buffalo Grove police received reports of several rear door break-in/burglaries in a neighborhood just northwest of Lake Cook Road and Milwaukee Avenue.
