Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:55 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a battery victim at the Arlington Park racetrack backstretch. Police at first received a report that the offender might still be on the scene. Later police learned that there were possibly two offenders that had fled the scene. When police arrived they learned that after the battery, the offender took the 24-year-old victims’s wallet and the $700 enclosed.
Police were searching for two male/Hispanic subjects. K-9 units were called in to the area. One of the offenders was possibly a dark-skinned male/Hispanic, 5’10” wearing a blue shirt and red hat.
Palatine police and Rolling Meadows police were called in to assist as the K-9 units were working on picking up a track westbound into some woods on the west side of Arlington Park, and eastbound from the backstretch. Police believed the offender fled into some woods northwest of the racetrack property and hopped a fence.
Police also searched the Metra lot. No word on capture of either offender.
No word on whether the victim was transported to the hospital.
Citizens with information are urged to contact the Arlington Heights Police at 847-368-5300.
