Ana Aguilar-Lopez, of Rolling Meadows, was killed about 1:00 a.m. Monday while a passenger in a minivan that was rear-ended on westbound I-90 in Des Plaines, near the Devon Toll Plaza.
A Pontiac minivan driven by a woman in her 40s rear-ended a Ford minivan. Aguilar-Lopez, of Rolling Meadows, was riding in the Ford minivan. The Ford minivan was pushed into a Ford Explorer. During the crash, Aguilar-Lopez was in the back seat, but was ejected from the Ford minivan. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A total of 14 people were in the three vehicles involved in the crash. Seven were transported with non-life threatening injuries to area hospitals.
The accident is under investigation. On first impression of authorities, drugs and alcohol are not considered a factor. Fire departments from Des Plaines, Schiller Park, Park Ridge and Chicago were called to the scene.
