A dangerous and prolonged heat wave is building across the region. Chicagoland may be getting a little relief with clouds and brief showers, but areas to the south and west are already under Excessive Heat Warnings or Heat Advisories.

Peoria, is actually at 91°F, but a dew point of 74°F has pushed the heat index to 101°F.
Champaign, is actually at 90°F, but a dew point of 75°F has pushed the heat index to 101°F.
Decatur, is actually at 92°F, but a dew point of 73°F has pushed the heat index to 101°F.
St. Louis, is actually at 94°F, but a dew point of 71°F has pushed the heat index to 101°F. Forecast high temperatures of 98°F to 103°F this week.

Rockford, is actually at 94°F, but a dew point of 75°F has pushed the heat index to 106°F. Highest temperature of 94°F forecast for Friday.
DeKalb, is actually at 90°F, but a dew point of 75°F has pushed the heat index to 101°F.
Streator, is actually at 93°F, but a dew point of 73°F has pushed the heat index to 102°F. Highest temperature of 95°F is forecast for Friday.
Ottawa, is actually at 93°F, but a dew point of 72°F has pushed the heat index to 100°F.
