Prosecutors dismissed burglary charges Wednesday against Samuel H. Lee, 19, who was arrested about 1:55 a.m. Sunday, January 2, 2011 after he was found by police near Arlington Heights Road and Park Street immediately after reports of burglaries that had just occurred were called in to police. Lee was also suspected of taking items from unlocked vehicles located in the area bounded by Northwest Highway and Central and Arlington Heights roads in Arlington Heights during a period of about six months — from June to January. Police said Samuel Lee was staying with a friend at the time of the burglaries — crimes that occurred between June 2010 and January 2011.
Samuel Lee had in his possession a camera and two GPS devices when he was arrested on Sunday, January 2, 2011. Police also discovered additional vehicle burglaries in the area early Sunday. At least two vehicle burglaries on Evergreen Avenue were discovered and possibly one vehicle burglary in the 200 block of South Vail Avenue were discovered early Sunday. Then additional reports came in early Monday. Arlington Heights police responded about 1:30 AM Monday to reports of additional vehicle burglaries that likely occurred on Sunday.
No word available on why the charges were dismissed.

Arlington Heights police are inept at catching criminals or prosecuting anyone. I am embarrassed to read this website and the Daily Herald and finding all the stories of this guy getting away or this person not being prosecuted. To bad Don Knotts died because Barney Fife would be a step up from our police force.
I don’t really care why the charges were dropped. This guy stole my neighbors stuff and the cops got it back for him. Good enough for me.
Jim Shew … you do understand that prosecutors and police are two different entities, right? The police caught a suspect with proceeds from a burglary immediately after burglaries occurred. How is that inept? The article doesn’t report anything about police failing to make a case for the prosecutors.
