A Massachusetts teenager fell 20 feet when he tumbled over the side of a public transit escalator. He admits he had been drinking before the fall. He suffered a broken elbow.
Surveillance video captured the life-threatening, carless act by an inebriated Shane O’Malley, who doesn’t remember 20-foot fall. He lost his balance and fell off the side of an escalator at a Massachussets Transit Authority facility in Cambridge, MA. He fell to the floor and appeared limp immediately after the fall.
Shane O’Malley just graduated from high school, and plans to go to college this fall.
In January 2008 a man under the influence of alcohol tried to slide down the banister of an escalator in the famous Hollywood shopping mall, Hollywood and Highland Center near Kodak Centre, and lost his balance and fell several stories onto another escalator below. The man was declared dead from a head injury (See The Cardinal Death Under the Influence: Man Falls Off Bannister at Hollywood & Highland Center).
Kodak Centre is the venue for the Academy Awards and American Idol.
