Arlington Heights police responded about 1:15 a.m. Thursday to a burglar alarm at the Arlington Jewelry and Loan in the 900 block of West Rand Road, and discovered a shattered front window.
Police were on the scene within one minute. Police immediately setup a perimeter, especially south of the location. Witnesses saw a suspect or suspects heading south along Kennicott from Rand Road. A K-9 unit picked up a track, and proceeds from the burglary were found scattered along the track. The track ended in the 2400 block of Champlain Street near Alleghany Drive. A neighbor in the area reported a suspicious vehicle was parked at the location and that the vehicle was driven away from Champlain Street before police arrived.
From surveillance video, the suspect was described as a male/white in his 20’s, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, white socks on his hands, blue shorts down to his knees, black slippers on his feet. The offender broke the window with a hammer.
