An apparent tornado struck the downtown Springfield, MA, one of Massachusetts’ largest cities, Wednesday afternoon.
Rare tornado activity occurred with multiple tornadoes in Westfield, West Springfield and Springfield Massachusetts Wednesday afternoon. The first tornado struck about 4:00 p.m. A second tornado struck about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday.
At least one tornado destroyed buildings, scattered debris and toppled trees in Springfield, Massachusetts. One person was reported killed in Springfield, Massachusetts, two people were reported killed in West Springfield, and one person was killed in Brimfield.
