Wheeling Fire Department responded at 10:49 p.m. Thursday to a report of a townhouse fire on the 1600 block of Ottawa Court. The location was corrected to a townhouse on the 500 block of Custer Court.
Police and firefighters arrived to find townhouse on fire with heavy fire along two stories of the outside of the house. Wheeling Fire Department elevated the fire response to a an extra alarm at about 11:05 p.m. The fire response eventually reached the second alarm level.
All residents were evacuated, and no injuries to civilians were reported. A firefighter slightly injured a knee, but refused medical treatment.
Wheeling Fire Department was assisted by fire departments from Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Des Plaines, Elk Grove, Northbrook, Palatine, Prospect Heights and Rolling Meadows.
The fire appeared to be an outside fire that extended to the interior of the townhouse. Wheeling Fire Department is investigating.
