The Cook County Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance from the public in tracking down a driver who hit a five-year-old child in Elk Grove Township and didn’t stop. The boy suffered a fractured left clavicle with abrasions to his head and torso.

The victim was playing with a four-year-old friend on the 400 block of Hoover Road in the Oasis Mobile Home Park around 3 p.m. on May 20th when he was hit on the left side by a car. He’d just run into the street to retrieve a ball when he was hit. After hearing a bang, the victim’s mother ran out of her house and found her son lying on the street. She did not see the car that hit the victim. A neighbor called 911 and the boy was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital by the Elk Grove Township Fire Department.

The two young children gave varying descriptions of the vehicle – one says it was a small green car, the other says it was a black SUV or pickup truck.

Police are currently reviewing surveillance video in the area and re-interviewing witnesses. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Cook County Sheriff’s Police detectives at 708-865-4896.
