Numerous Solicitor Complaints Wednesday Night

Arlington Heights police received three complaints regarding a solicitor between 7:50 p.m. Wednesday and 9:10 p.m. Wednesday. Police received a report about 7:50 p.m. Wednesday of a solicitor in the 700 block of South Belmont Avenue. The resident did not know what the solicitor was selling. The solicitor was described as a male/black in his 20’s.

Police also received a solicitor complaint and/or suspicious person report in the 900 block of South Cleveland Avenue. A suspicious person was reported carrying a clipboard at about 9:00 pm. Wednesday. Police believed the subject had been associated with an earlier solicitor complaint. There was least one solicitor in the area with a permit.

Police also received a report about 9:05 p.m. of a solicitor selling magazines on North Ridge Avenue. Solicitors are not permitted to go door-to-door after 9:00 p.m. The solicitor was described as a male/black. The subject was last seen walking northbound on Ridge Avenue.

There was also a report of a solicitor received by The Cardinal in the area of 200 South Pine Avenue of a solicitor selling magazines who asked to use the bathroom and was allowed in the house. Police were not called regarding the Pine Avenue incident. The solicitor was described as a male/black.

  1. He was also at my house in the 500 block of Techny. He was selling magazines. He had an Arlington Heights Permit displayed on his shirt. I told him no and he moved on.
