The new $2.9 million Palatine fire station at 1215 N. Quentin Rd. opened this week and officials say it will help reduce response times to the village’s northwest side.
The new fire station has improved access to the roadway — the Dundee Road station was sometimes hampered by heavy traffic on the two-lane roadway. Quentin Road is four lanes in front of the new fire station.
Currently three personnel are assigned to the new station, which houses a rescue-ambulance and a fire truck with a 75 foot ladder. The crew can answer emergency medical service calls and respond to fire calls.
There are five fire stations in Palatine.
