In China, a bride-to-be discovers some unsavory news about her fiancé , pushing her to the ledge of a building. But the quick work of rescue workers prevents the bride (in a wedding dress) from jumping.
Miss Li, a 22-year-old college student was on the window ledge of an apartment building in Changchun city, as she threatened to jump from the seventh floor, after her fiancé left her an married another woman days before their wedding date. Guo Zhongfan, a community service officer was able to hold her by her neck and arms, while another man pushed Miss Li upward from an apartment window directly below. She was pulled upward into the apartment and transported to a hospital nearby.
Also in Chicago a woman died after jumping from a Lakeview high-rise in the 2900 block of North Sheridan Road just after 7:00 a.m. Thursday.
On the far south side of Chicago near I-57 and West 107th Street, I-57 was closed in both directions about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday after a man was contemplating jumping from an overpass. The man was brought to safety about 12:53 a.m. and no injuries were reported.
