Rev. Calvin Lindstrom speaks about his student, and Robert Stack speaks about his son, USMC Lance Corporal James Bray Stack, and the victory over his death by his faith in Christ — “justified by Faith” (quoting Romans 5:1).
Christian Liberty Academy honored USMC Lance Corporal James Bray Stack Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. by designating the former wrestling gym of the former Arlington High School in his name. The gym is now used for additional sporting activities at Christian Liberty Academy, including the Arlington International Airgun Club
Lance Corporal Stack was a national champion air pistol shooter in the 2008 Junior Olympics and a member of the Arlington International Airgun Club, based at Christian Liberty Academy. One of the firing ranges is located in the upper deck of Grace Gymnasium. A firing range also served as the backdrop of the ceremony at the gym named in his honor.
James Stack also played soccer with Christian Liberty and was named Most Valuable Player on the school’s track team. He was homeschooled with the Christian Liberty Academy curriculum while residing in Arlington Heights.
He was born July 11, 1990, and raised in Arlington Heights.
He participated six years on the AIAC shooting team (two years rifle and four years pistol).
He was a USA Shooting Junior Olympics Gold Medalist 2008 (air pistol).
In 2008 he was on the soccer and track team at Christian Liberty Academy and was MVP.
He graduated from high school in 2008 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after graduation. He graduated from Recruit Training as a high scoring Rifle Expert.He was assigned to 2nd PLatoon, India Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines and completed cold weather, mountain, amphibious and desert warfare training.
He was deployed to Afghanistan on October 2, 2010 and was killed in action November 10, 2010 in Sangin, Afghanistan.
His USMC award and ribbons include the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Sea Service Medal, and NATO Medal – ISAF.
He is survived by his wife Katelyn, his daughter Mikayla, his parents Robert and Linda Stack and his sister, Megan.
