Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:15 p.m. Friday to vehicle vs. pedestrian accident at Higgins Road and Plum Grove Road. Police arrived first on the scene and advised firefighter/paramedics of serious trauma.
A 14-year-old Schaumburg boy was hit by a silver Toyota Camry driven by a 61-year-old Hoffman Estates man. The teen was transported just before 9:30 p.m. Friday to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with life threatening injuries.
The intersection of Higgins Road and Plum Grove Road was closed for investigation until about 1:15 a.m. Saturday. As of Saturday morning, no citations had been issued.

I feel terrible for this young teen. Thankfully he’s at least alive. I hope everything goes as good as possible. I was hit by a car at this same intersection two years ago on the same date. I can only imagine what the family and friends are going through right now. Please be very very careful whenever you cross that intersection as a car or a pedestrian.
