The body Melissa Ann Best, 34-year-old, of Round Lake Park who had been missing for over one week was found by police investigators on the floor of her minivan in a Grayslake parking lot parking lot in the 1900 block of Country Drive Monday night. She was pronounced dead at about 6:50 p.m.
Police learned that Best drove to a Waukegan motel on North Point Boulevard on April 15 after dropping off one of her two children at a friend’s apartment in Round Lake Park. Police said her body was taken from the motel by aquaintences and driven in her van to the Grayslake
Round Lake Park Police Chief George Filenko said drugs or alcohol seemed play a role in the death of Melissa Best.
An autopsy is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday as part of a police death investigation.
Round Lake police and the Lake County Major Crimes Task force are investigating.
