Four Arrests After Barricade Situation in Single Family Residential Neighborhood on Berkley Lane
Hoffman Estates police responded just before 10:00 p.m. Saturday to gunshots being fired from a house in the 200 block of East Berkley Lane. One person was arrested immediately after police arrived, but three other people remained inside. The barricade situation lasted a little more than two hours, police said.
Police cordoned off the neighborhood and tried to contact the people inside. When the three inside refused to surrender, the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System Emergency Service Team was activated. Police officers from a multitude of police agencies make up the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System Emergency Service Team or NIPAS EST. The officers are specially trained in special operation, and are heavily armed and shielded for their own protection and for the evacuation of residents nearby.
About 12:15 a.m., the three people inside surrendered to police without incident.
No other details about the incident or the identities of the four arrested subjects were available.
