On the day that word came out that he would be leaving the evening television slot at FOXNews, Glenn Beck warned that another Freedom Flotilla coming in May could be a setup for Israel. He said he’s amazed at both the number of people that take heed to his warnings, but he’s also surprised at the number who reject his predictions.
“Paul Revere didn’t get on the horse for a career … he went back being a silversmith.”
“Our only business is the business of freedom.”
Beck joined Fox in January 2009 after leaving CNN. By last August he drew tens of thousands of people at a rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. called ‘Restoring Honor.”
Ratings and Advertisers Drop
During the last year, “Glenn Beck” has lost more than a million viewers from Glenn Beck’s 5:00 p.m. show, dropping from an average 2.9 million in January 2010 to 1.8 million in January 2011, according to The New Republic.
Advertisers Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola, and Wal-Mart also left the program, but Fox claims they went to other time slots.
While followers would agree with Beck, analysts cite several of his theories as outlandish and the cause of the repulsion of many from Beck …
His claim that “Obama is a socialist” …
His accusation that liberal Jewish financier George Soros orchestrates the fall of foreign governments for financial gain …
His claim that the overthrow of Hosni Mubarak was caused by socialist communists and the Muslim Brotherhood …
and his claim that Google was working a little too close with the government, and his description of, as he called them, “creepy” comments from former Google CEO Eric Schmidt.
The relationship between Fox News Channel President Roger Ailes and Glenn Beck appears to be amicable, and new products or presentations are said to be forthcoming from Beck.
