Northwestern University police responded just after 8:40 p.m. Sunday to the 300 block of East Chicago Avenue, Chicago to a report of an attempted armed robbery that was interrupted when two joggers happened to be in the area. The victim was not injured, and no injuries were displayed.

A female student was waiting to cross the street on the north sidewalk by the fieldhouse of Lake Shore Park when she was approached by man who pushed her backwards. The man then demanded her money and cell phone. A second man who had been walking ahead of her then stopped, turned around and stood in front of her. As the second man faced her, two joggers crossing westbound from Lake Shore Drive approached and the two men fled northbound across the park.
The first subject was described as a male white, approximately 16-17 years old, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, thin build with a buzz cut hair style. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark sweatshirt.
The second subject was described as a male black, 16-17 years old, 6 feet tall, approximately 190-200 pounds, husky build with a buzz cut hair style. He was also wearing blue jeans and a dark sweatshirt.
