Arlington Heights police responded about 7:50 PM Monday to a solicitor complaint in the 2100 block of of Coldspring. Police received a report that a solicitor was at the front door for Just Energy. The front desk at the Arlington Heights Police Department confirmed that solicitors were check-in with a permit, but not for that particular neighborhood.
The subject was described as a male/black wearing a dark jacket.
No word on any police contact with the subject.
Solicitors are required to check in each day in person at the Arlington Heights Police Headquarters police desk.
In the past week there have been a few complaints about the solicitors.
Just Energy has had a history of consumer complaints and has been the subject of warnings to consumers.
According to the Better Business Bureau on March 3, 2008, the Citizens Utility Board (CUB), Citizen Action/Illinois, and AARP have publicly announced that the three organizations have filed a joint complaint against US Energy Savings, directing the complaint to the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC).
Also, on April 24th, 2006, the Citizens Utility Board (CUB) issued a consumer alert warning the public against misleading sales tactics used by U.S. Energy Savings Corp salespeople soliciting consumers door-to-door.
