Newt Gingrich says he is launching a website to explore a run for president. Gingrich says that he and his wife “will look at this very seriously and we will very methodically lay out the framework for what we do next.”
“… every American has their creator-endowed right to pursue happiness as a reality not just a false promise.”
— Newt Gingrich
Former Republican U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Thursday he is entering the early, early stages of a potential bid for president in 2012.
Gingrich is the first major Republican figure to commit this far. Other major potential candidates for the nomination include former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who was in Atlanta on Wednesday, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
