Chicago Fire Department firefighters and paramedics and Chicago police responded about 10 a.m. Monday to an apartment fire in the East Rogers Park neighborhood at 6244 North Winthrop Avenue.
The incident injured eleven people — seven in serious-to-critical condition, three in serious-to-fair condition and one in good condition. All were transported.
Firefighters rescued several people out of windows and down ladders.
The fire apparently began in the rear of the building on the third floor, and was struck out about 11:00 a.m.
