Girl Scout Troop 1347 based in Cary, Illinois was selling cookies at a sidewalk in front of Walgreens at 500 W. Northwest Highway Saturday morning and gained proceeds of $417.
But while the girl scouts were finishing their annual event and packing up their tables and chairs, they turned around to discover that someone had stolen their bag containing their days profit.
No witnesses saw the offender steal the money and the Walgreens store has no surveillance cameras at that location on the sidewalk.
The cookie sale proceeds were destined for troops overseas and the Girl Scouts in Japan.
On Monday morning, the girls returned to Walgreens to sell the rest of their cookie inventory. And the community of Cary responded: An unnamed local businessman wrote a check for $417, the police chief wrote a check for $417, and the founder and president of 3GSTORE, which has a warehouse down the street from the Walgreens, has also pledged $417. In addition, 3GSTORE.COM is going to donate $1 for every order shipped until the end of the month.
Also, for anyone that “Like’s” 3Gstore on FaceBook (facebook.com/4Gstore), the online wireless data and mobile router products store will add one dollar to the donation — donating up to $1000, in addition to the $417 check. The 3GSTORE.COM facebook page had 107 “likes” at the instant this article was published.
